Editor, Times-Union:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. One Nation under God. I learned this in kindergarten and never forgot it.
Now I look at our flag and remember:
Our flag  covers coffins of those who gave their lives
It flew over twin towers
It flew in Oklahoma City
It flew in Connecticut
It reminds us that freedom is not free
The Stars and Stripes are the flag of our country.
The Christian flag is also a symbol.
Why are these two missing from some church sanctuarys?
Are not God and Country what we are all about?
Have we forgotten  the price so many have paid?
Proud to be an American.
