PIERCETON – Zula Faye Owens, 75, Claypool, passed away at 3:36 p.m. June 24, 2014, at her residence after a long battle with cancer.
She was born June 9, 1939, in Brethitti County, Ky., to Weldon and Edith Burton Minnix. On Dec. 7, 1957, in Roanoke, she married the love of her life whom she had met at age 16, Edward Owens, who preceded her in death April 12, 2012.
She worked at Chamberlin Products, South Whitley; Whitley Products, Pierceton; and Lyall Electric, Larwill.  But most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was the “Mother of All.”
She enjoyed garage sales and secondhand stores where she found most of her hummingbirds and collector plates. She enjoyed sitting on her deck, watching the birds feed on the many feeders and her trumpet bush.
Surviving are her daughter, Hazel (and spouse Tony) McKenzie, Claypool; her son, Anthony (and spouse Kathy) Owens, Warsaw; seven grandchildren: A.J., Austin and Michaela McKenzie, Claypool; Nikkole, Amanda and Bryce Owens, Warsaw; and Brandy Owens, North Webster; a great-granddaughter, Emma McKenzie; three sisters, Freda (and spouse Ken) Boggs, South Whitley; Brenda Norris, Boswell, Okla.; Carolyn (and spouse Barry) Sapp, Sidney; and two brothers, Lowell (and spouse Audrey) Minnix and Ralph (and spouse Pam) Minnix, both of Pierceton. She also leaves behind two fur babies, Capone and Sissy. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial is in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
