Stanley Dwight Long, 82, Winona Lake, passed away at 2:35 p.m. July 25, 2014, at his residence .
He was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Maurice Kingley and Portia Mae Harper Long. On April 7, 1955, he married Donna Elaine DuBois Long, who preceded him in death June 11, 2001. On Oct. 4, 2003, he married Gay Simmermacher Long, who survives in Winona Lake.
He was a resident for the past 41 years of Kosciusko County, where he was a member of Winona Lake Free Methodist Church. He was also very involved in the Free Methodist Men’s Ministry International, the Marriage Encounter Ministry, was a song leader and a church lay leader. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a business owner and had worked as a salesman for many years for the Harper Brush Company.
He also leaves behind three sons: Stephen (and spouse Pamela) Long, Rockford, Ill.; Mark (and spouse Emily Journey) Long, Columbus, Ohio; Michael (and spouse Maria) Long, Thessaloniki, Greece; 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Cassandra, Sarah, Adam, Eric, Curtis, Robert, Florence, Gina, Christiana and Kali Long; one brother, Ronald (and spouse Louise) Long, Fairfield; and his sister-in-law, Beverly Long, Broomfield, Colo. He also was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Long.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Winona Lake Free Methodist Church, 902 College Ave., Winona Lake, with Pastor Roland Kramer, assisted by Pastor Henry Church, officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. CST Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield.
