SYRACUSE – Mary Hodgson Ferguson, 98, Syracuse, passed away at 10 p.m. June 3, 2014.
She was born April 7, 1916, in Johnstown, Pa., to Bert and Emma Carney Adams. On March 3, 1942, she married Lloyd Hodgson, who died in May 1957. On April 27, 1962, she married Ben R. Ferguson, who preceded her in death in September 1988.
She graduated from Blacklick Township High School in Belsano, Pa. She was a homemaker, and moved to the Syracuse area in 1988 from Warren, Ohio.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse and formerly attended First United Methodist Church in Warren. She was very musical, and played the piano and sang in the choirs at First United Methodist and Calvary United Methodist churches. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Tom (and spouse Jan) Hodgson, Syracuse; a stepson, Michael Ferguson, St. Joseph, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Joan Ferguson, South Bend; a granddaughter, Julie (and spouse CY) Nahvi, West Fargo, N.D.; a grandson, Jeff (and spouse Amy) Hodgson, Syracuse; four great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Kate Nahvi, West Fargo, and Mia and Liam Hodgson, Syracuse; and six step-grandchildren: Michael Ferguson, Holly and Nick Searfoss, and Darcy, John and Bill Daugherty. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ward and Paul Adams; three sisters: Erma Amond, Grace Davis and Ruth Liphart; and a stepdaughter, Beth Daugherty.
Private family services will be held and burial will be in Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna, Ohio.
