SYRACUSE – Marshall G. “Baldy” Boyer Sr., 76, Syracuse, passed away at 4:30 p.m. April 11, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 15, 1938, in Warsaw, to Sanford G. and Margaret Mildred “Milly” Benge Boyer. On Aug. 11, 1962, he married Wilma Nicodemus, who died in 1998. On Dec. 15, 2001, he married Sandra K. “Sandy” Hammer Drew, who survives in Syracuse.
He graduated in 1955 from Macy High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and moved to Syracuse in 1962 from the Macy area. He was formerly employed at Starcraft in Topeka for 12 years; Commodore Homes and Regent Homes, both in Syracuse; Fairmont Homes in Nappanee; and Blue Finn Homes in Nappanee.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse.
Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa Boyer, Syracuse, and Diane (and spouse Fred) Shambaugh, Akron; four sons: Marshall Boyer Jr., Milford; Tony (and spouse Flora) Boyer, Warsaw; Jim (and spouse Deb) Glaze; Pierceton, and Mike Glaze, Decatur; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, with Pastor Brad Cox, Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, officiating. Military rites will be performed by Syracuse American Legion following services at the funeral home. Private family burial is in the Akron Cemetery.
