WABASH – Liddie Burkhart, 87, La Fontaine, went home to be with her Lord and the love of her life at 10:15 p.m. June 27, 2014, at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born March 11, 1927, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Bob and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Campbell Rose. On May 6, 1946, in Prestonsburg, she married the Rev. Roy Burkhart.
She worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons and Gatke’s, both in Warsaw, for 25 years. She was a member of the Denham Free Will Baptist Church and attended the Jalapa Road Baptist Church. She was a member of AARP. She lived in Indiana since 1951.
She is survived by four children: Mallie (and spouse Richard) Trump, Tippecanoe; Stella Dukes, Algood, Tenn.; Roy L. (and spouse Connie) Burkhart, Amboy; and Joann (and spouse Dwayne) Boggs, Wabash; her sister, Katie (and spouse Solomon) Burkhart, Warsaw; and her brother, Joe L. (and spouse Delores) Rose, Claypool; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Todd Dukes; four brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with the Rev. Bill Bowling officiating. Burial is in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.
