John “Wes” Degenkolb Jr., 51, Winona Lake, passed away at 6:30 p.m. April 29, 2014, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born April 11, 1963, in Marion, to John W. and Betty Kelley Degenkolb Sr. On Feb. 22, 1996, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., he married Susan Sprinkle, who survives in Winona Lake.
He lived in Kokomo and Huntington before moving to Winona Lake in 2002. He graduated from Western High School, Russiaville, in 1981. He then graduated from Indiana Tech with his associate’s degree in engineering in 2009 and bachelor’s degree in engineering in 2011. He was employed as a machinist and engineer for Medtronic Sofamor Danek Manufacturing, Warsaw. He attended Warsaw Community Church and loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was very involved in the Fat and Skinny Bicycle Club, Winona Lake.
Also surviving are two sons, Eric W. (and fiancé Bethann Day) Degenkolb, Kokomo, and David (and spouse Amanda) Goad, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Vanessa and Jocelyna Goad, both of Warsaw; his parents, Kokomo; two brothers, Tim (and spouse Kim) Degenkolb, Kokomo, and Steve (and spouse Diane) Degenkolb, Tipton; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremiah Goad.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Jeff Pfeifer officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
