Fidel H. Moran, 90, Pierceton, passed away surrounded by loving family at 7:45 a.m. Aug. 2, 2014, at his residence.
He was born April 24, 1924, in San Antonio, Texas, to Pablo Sr. and Rita Hernandez Moran. On May 26, 1950, he married Belia Mendoza Moran, who survives in Pierceton.
He served in the U.S. Navy, and was a resident since 1951 of Kosciusko County, where he worked as a truck driver for Pierceton Trucking Company, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #258, both of Pierceton; Warsaw Knights of Columbus; and the Teamsters Union.
Also surviving are three daughters: Rosa (and spouse Gary) Wheeler, Fort Wayne; Norma (and spouse Ruben) Flores, Winona Lake; Sylvia (and spouse Tony) Aguirre, Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Samara (and spouse Zak) Yager; Heather (and spouse JR) Dahman; Courtney (and spouse Barry) McManus; Joel (and spouse Tara) Alberson; Sebastian Flores; Marcos and Gabriella Aguirre; two great-grandchildren: Erin and Barrett McManus; one brother, Pablo Moran Jr., Pontiac, Mich.; two sisters, Elvira (and spouse Jose) Ruiz, Lansing, Mich.; and Juanita (and spouse Gavino) Vasquez, Pontiac, Mich. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Zavier Catholic Church, 408 W. Catholic St., Pierceton, and celebrated by Father Charles “Chuck” Herman. Burial and graveside services are at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military rites conducted by the Pierceton American Legion Post 258.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. A  rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
