Eugenia Ann Lessig Corzine, 86, passed away July 14, 2014.
She was born in Warsaw in 1927 to Moness and Donald Lessig.
She spent her childhood with her brother Jerry, her Granny and her beloved friends. She had fond memories of club meetings with her best friends Betty, Evelyn, Jody and Mary. She moved to Los Angeles and raised her three children.
Her family admires her courage to act in adversity and to take risks for her beliefs. Education and faith were the foundation of her life. She received a degree in biology from Manchester University in Indiana. Later, she attended University of California Irvine where she tagged sharks, received a teaching credential and earned a certificate in gerontology, and where she was a research associate. At University of La Verne, she was awarded master’s degrees in special education and reading. She ended her studies at theology school.
Her Indiana childhood brought a lifelong love of sports. She loved going to high school basketball games with her father and friends as a child, attending UCLA football games as a season ticket holder, or cursing at a Lakers loss on television.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her brother, Jerry; her three children, Bruce (and spouse Sharon), Jill and Griff; her three grandchildren: Brian, Rebecca (and spouse Kevin) and Peter. She loved her dogs, her family, her friends and good food. Her family will miss her wisdom, her faith, her humor and her support.
