Deidre P. “Dee” Jaynes, 66, Warsaw, died at 4:30 a.m. April 2, 2014, in Bremen Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Los Angeles, Calif., to William and Darlene Sabatella Kern. On Nov. 6, 1966, in Stanton, Calif., the man she knew and loved as her dad, Larre Schlarmann, gave her hand in marriage to Donald Jaynes, who survives in Warsaw.
It was a marriage they would cherish for 47 years.
She was 1965 graduate of Lakewood High School, Lakewood, Calif. She and Don moved to Warsaw in 1970 from Michigan. She worked 15 years for Zimmer as an organizer for corporate meetings, retiring in 2002. Prior to her Zimmer employment, she drove a bus for Cardinal Center for three years, worked at Dalton Foundry in accounting for five years, and was employed five years by The Paper, where she wrote articles including “Know Your Neighbor.” She also provided some photography work for The Paper.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir in earlier years; belonged to Tri Kappa; was an avid reader and had traveled to 49 of the 50 states. She loved to write – especially poetry; enjoyed singing and taking pictures; knew how to have fun – including taking the girls to Pike Lake when they were young. She and Don enjoyed traveling and camping together as well as special trips they would take between Christmas and New Year’s. She loved and was loved by her husband, daughters, grandchildren and friends. She will be missed.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sherri (and spouse Jerry) Parker, Garrett, and Wendy (and spouse Troy) Campbell, Niles, Mich.; six grandchildren: Camron, Breanna and Elizabeth Parker, Taylor and Alec Campbell and Emma Riedley; four sisters: Judi Hinchee, Amarillo, Texas; Kathi Phillips, Las Vegas, Nev.; Sharre Schlarmann, Escondido, Calif.; Gretchen (and spouse Earl) Bloom, Mira Loma, Calif.; three brothers: Larre (and spouse Janet) Schlarmann, Poway, Calif.; Dani (and spouse Analiza) Schlarmann, Corona, Calif.; and Brandon Schlarmann, Big Bear Lake, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents and dad, Larre Schlarmann.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor David Hummel, Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, at a later date.
