BOURBON – Alice Joan Wallace, 75, Bremen, passed away peacefully at her home July 29, 2014.
She was born May 27, 1939, in Etna Green, to Jacob and Violet Walters Klinefelter. On July 28, 1957, she married her beloved husband Merlin Wallace, who preceded her in death.
She was a resident of the Bremen area for the past 23 years and lived previously in South Bend. She was employed by GMAC, Bendix and the U.S. Postal Service in South Bend, Bourbon, North Liberty and Nappanee. She served as postmaster of the Bourbon post office in the latter stages of her career.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Jennifer (and spouse Timothy) Gorski, South Bend; three sons: Thomas Edward (and spouse Katherine) Wallace, Charlotte, N.C.; James William Wallace, Plymouth; and Michael John (and spouse Amber) Wallace, South Bend; five grandchildren: Sarah, Andrew, Amanda, Matthew and Caramia; and one half brother, Jack (and spouse Marilyn) Klinefelter. She also was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Rana Lee; her brother, Lowell Klinefelter; and two half brothers, Rex and Robert Burnett. She was very much loved by her family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Etna Green United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Lampton of the church officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Etna Green Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
