Warsaw’s varsity baseball team snapped its five-game losing streak in a big way Friday evening.
Powered by senior Caleb Heckaman, the Tigers beat Northern Lakes Conference foe Goshen 9-0.
Warsaw is now 9-9 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Heckaman finished the game 4 for 4 at the plate. Among his four hits were a double and a home run.
He also tallied four RBIs and scored two runs.
The Tigers pounded out 11 hits in the win, as seniors Caleb Moneyheffer and Brandon Shipp had two hits each.
Shipp belted a home run and finished with four RBIs. Senior Dean Katris ripped a double for the Tigers.
Junior Kevin Hawley got the win on the mound for Warsaw, pitching all seven innings and giving up four hits and no walks. He struck out six.
Jorge Pizana took the loss for Goshen. Pizana worked five innings and gave up nine hits, eight runs, seven of which were earned, and three walks.
The Tigers scored one run in the first inning, and then added three more in the second, four in the fifth and one in the sixth en route to the commanding victory.
Warsaw is in action again Monday when it hosts conference foe Plymouth at 5 p.m.
