SYRACUSE — Hosting defending Northern Lakes Conference champion Northridge Monday, the Wawasee softball team stuck around, but fell 12-11.
Facing the top pitcher in the NLC, Wawasee struck out seven times against Haley Nixon, but did get 12 hits.
Wawasee actually outhit Northridge 12-7, but committed seven errors, leading to eight unearned runs.
For Wawasee, sophomore Cristiana DeLaFuente was 2 for 3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs.
Wawasee returns to NLC play Wednesday at Plymouth.

The Manchester softball team only needed six innings to get a 10-0 win at Maconaquah Monday night. Freshman Brooklyn Howard was got the no-hit victory, recording 11 strikeouts, while getting three hits herself. The 6-4 Lady Squires are at Whitko today for a Three Rivers Conference game.

The Wawasee boys golf team picked up three victories at South Shore Golf Club in Syracuse Monday night. On their home course, the Warriors shot a 167, defeating Fairfield (174), Elkhart Central (190) and West Noble (194). Wawasee’s Jeffrey Moore had the second-lowest score of the day, shooting a 38 on the par-36 course. The 4-0 Warriors are back at South Shore Thursday, hosting Whitko, Manchester and South Bend Riley.
