ARGOS – In a matchup of state-ranked teams, Warsaw’s varsity boys soccer team beat Argos 3-2 Tuesday evening.
It was the season opener for both the Class 2A No. 10 Tigers and the Class 1A No. 16 Dragons.
Warsaw got goals from Caleb Klusman, Tito Cuellar and Brad Ocock.
Ocock scored the game-winner with five minutes remaining on an assist from Brian James.

GIRLS SOCCER
Tuesday in Mishawaka
After having their season opener pushed back a day due to the field conditions at Mishawaka Marian, the Warsaw girls soccer team got the 1-0 victory Tuesday. Tied at 0-0 at intermission, Warsaw got onto the board when Brenna Shipley received a pass from Alyssa Atkins and put it into the goal. Gabby Herman got the shutout for the Lady Tigers, posting seven saves. The Lady Tigers will be at Saturday's Shindigz National Soccer Festival at the Hefner Soccer Complex in Fort Wayne, taking on Bellmont at 10 a.m., then DeKalb at 2 p.m.

Opening its season at Lakeland Christian Academy Tuesday night, the Whitko volleyball team recorded a three-game sweep, 25-11, 25-22, 25-21. Maddie Gawthrop led the Lady Wildcats with nine kills, while Elaine Warner had 34 assists and Tressa Keim recorded 20 digs. For LCA, senior Paige Price had nine kills. Whitko hosts Churubusco Tuesday and LCA's next match is at Saturday's Churubusco Invitational.

With all five varsity players shooting in the 40s, Wawasee’s girls golf team shot a four-person score 174 Tuesday at Maxwelton, topping Mishawaka Marian (196) and West Noble (218). Mikala Mawhorter and Elizabeth Jackson both shot 41 for Wawasee and shared medalist honors. The Lady Warriors are now 8-0 on the season.
