The Manchester and Triton football teams each opened up the season with victories Friday night.
For Triton, it picked up its second-straight season-opening win against Caston, shutting the Comets out 34-0 in Fulton.
After losing to Mississinewa 57-13 last season in Gas City, the Manchester Squires bounced back Friday, getting a 27-13 home victory.

The Triton Trojans will look to make it two-in-a-row this Friday at Northfield, while Manchester will also look to improve to 2-0 when it hosts Bluffton.

Thursday in South Whitley
In a Whitley County match between Columbia City and Whitko Thursday, the Whitko boys soccer team lost 6-2. In the season-opening loss, Whitko's Daniel Kirkham had a goal and an assist, with Keegan Hicks also getting into the scoring column. In goal, Jacob Helton recorded 23 saves. The 0-1 Wildcats are at Lakeland Christian Academy today at 5 p.m.
