WINONA LAKE – This Sunday at 3 p.m., the Church of the Good Shepherd in Winona Lake will present a free concert featuring Marvin Perry, principal trumpet with the Indianapolis Symphony for more than 30 years.
Perry will be performing variations on Handel’s “The Harmonious Blacksmith,” Hubeau’s “Sonata for Trumpet” and the “Boutade” by Gabaye. He will be accompanied by pianist Sylvia Patterson Scott.
Flutist Arturo Osorio also will perform in this concert. He and pianist Chara Sonntag will play a number of original hymn arrangements including “The Solid Rock,” “Abide with Me,” “Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty” and “The Shepherd’s Psalm.”
Other performers on this program will be cellist Barbara Kavanaugh and pianist Jonathan Keener. They will present the finale from Rachmaninoff’s “Sonata for Cello and Piano.” Vocal music will be provided by soprano Bekah Noack, tenor Kaleb Marshall and the voices of the Good Shepherd Chorale.
This afternoon performance is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served afterward. The Church of the Good Shepherd, formerly the Winona Lake Presbyterian Church, is at the intersection of College Avenue and 8th Street in Winona Lake.
