The Lee Anne Stewart Dance Schools’ annual dance production is a celebration of 41 years serving many area communities.
“Oh The Places We’ll Go,” this year’s annual dance production, is the culmination of nine months of training for the studio’s dance students as well as the staff and Lee Anne Stewart.
The three current studio locations, Nappanee, Syracuse and Warsaw, provide students from many surrounding communities including Milford, Leesburg and Goshen, a place to learn dance skills and appreciate dance as an art form. The annual dance production serves as a celebration and an inside glimpse at the performance profession.
“This year’s show will highlight various exciting travel locations throughout the world,” said Lee Anne Stewart, exclusive owner and operator of the dance schools.
Some of the songs audiences will enjoy at this year’s shows include “Madagascar,” “Philadelphia,” “Istanbul,” “Pompeii” and “Goodnight Saigon.” The shows final dance is an uplifting performance to “On Top of the World,” according to a press release from the dance studio.
Many of the dancers are taking classes as a form of fun exercise and a way to interact with friends, while other dancers train more extensively. All Lee Anne Stewart dancers, from beginners through Fusion Dance Team members, perform in the June shows.
Also during the productions, over 50 students will receive awards for five, 10 and 15 years of taking classes at the Stewart Dance schools.
“I’m so proud of each of the students performing, but I love recognizing the young dancers who reach these milestones in their dance education,” stated Stewart.
The Nappanee and Warsaw studios will hold performances at Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
Performances will also be held for the Syracuse studio dancers at WCHS PAC June 13 at 7 p.m., June 14 at 7 p.m. and June 15 at 4 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Performing Arts Center box office prior to each performance.
Information regarding summer classes and programs including Warsaw classes, as well as information for enrolling in fall classes and auditions for Stewart Fusion Dance Teams, is available online at www.stewartdanceschool.com, or by calling 877-658-9875.
Classes are offered to students ranging in age from 3-1/2 through adult in pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, jazz-funk, tap, pointe and hip hop and students 3 to 4-1/2 years “Imagination and Movement” classes. Specialty classes in ballet, tap and jazz technique and contemporary, leaps and turns and more are offered periodically throughout the year.
The dance schools are located south of Syracuse on CR 300E, just 15 minutes from Walmart, on the third floor of the Main Street Suites in Nappanee, and at the WCHS PAC.
