Five members of Boy Scout Troop 715 have finished the requirements for the Hiking Merit Badge. It took four five-mile hikes, two 10-mile hikes and one 25-mile hike, plus a little classroom work. On a sunny Saturday, five Scouts and four adult leaders took a stroll from the Marshall County line across Kosciusko County to the Whitley County line. The group of nine started at 7:30 a.m., had lunch at the new Krebs Trailhead on South McKinley Street, then finished up about 6 p.m. Scoutmaster Dick McCleary had grilled rib-eye steak sandwiches waiting for them at lunch time. Pictured (L to R) at the Krebs Trailhead shelter are, front row: Leaders David King, Scott McClintock, Joe Hawn and Neil Meeks (Cubmaster from Pack 3450, North Manchester); back row: Scouts Dillon King, Meraley Fugate, Jacob Hawn, Parker Kelley and Grayden Dunham.
