Jason and Marie Schmidt of Warsaw and their children, Aron, Andrew and Katlin, came to hear Davy Jones at the 10th annual classic rock concert Friday at Central Park. Hundreds of music fans flocked to the park in spite of darkening skies.
Kosciusko County Extension Chorus members Bev Reid, Dorine Barkes, Dorothy Gall, Amy McPhail and Susan Kintzel have a new cookbook, “Singin’ in the Kitchen.”
A commemorative print to mark Warsaw’s Sesquicentennial has been designed by local artist John Woods depicting Beyer Farm Trail boardwalk along Pike Lake, the Maish Gardens at Central Park and the City/County Athletic Complex.

Four Warsaw area youth are participating in the Lions Youth Exchange Program for six weeks this summer: Julie Cobbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. DeWain Cobbs, is visiting Lyon, France; Joy Conlon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Conlon, and Chris McCleary, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McCleary, are visiting Guatemala City; Leslie Kralis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Kralis, will visit several cities in England. Three will visit Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Kralis will host a girl from Greece; Mr. and Mrs. John Kibiger, students from Finland and Japan.
Gene Grossman, a mathematics teacher at Warsaw Community High School, is one of three finalists from Indiana for the national Presidential Award to be announced in September.

Andy Glant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Glant, 349 N. Buffalo St., and Jill Surguy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Surguy, 1202 E. Fort Wayne St., were honored at McKinley Elementary School for being named to the school’s first annual honor patrol. Their names will be placed on a plaque to be hung in the hall of the school.
Douglas DeFord, Bob Guy, Gary Kealey, Jerry Richardson, Brian Gadson, Mark Anglin, Mike Hiatt, Mark Gadson and Ronnie Yates will be among 300 Boy, Explorer and Cub Scouts at Scout-O-Rama in Elkhart.  Den mothers are Ruth Gadson and Freda DeFord.

Warsaw High School’s relay team took fourth place in the Gary Invitational track meet at Notre Dame Fieldhouse Saturday.
Motorists L.B. Rassi, Milford, Stanley Hull, Warsaw, and Moyer Heckman, Claypool, were fined $2 under city ordinance No. 113 for speeding on East Center Street.
