J. Tucker and Zach Hight. Jerry “Bud” Hudson Jr., formerly of Mentone, has his picture at age 4 on the cover of the 1989 Rochester phone book. His father snapped the picture in Roann of him fishing on the banks of the Eel River with the historic Stockdale Mill in the background.
Eric Suchecki, son of Cathy and Frank, has been listed in Who’s Who Among American High School Students. Students are nominated for their outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, and school and community service. He is presently a freshman at Indiana University majoring in business. His future plans include law school.
Jeff Boyer, Wawasee High School, was inducted into the National Honor Society Feb. 27 based on his superior leadership skills, community service and character.

“Growing Plants and Flowers Indoors” was the program at the Lamplighters Home Demonstration Club at the home of Mrs. Ernest Carr, Claypool. Mrs. Dewey Brindle was co-hostess. Esther Thompson will be hostess at the next meeting March 17, assisted by Margie Erwin.
Columbia City’s Eagles tripped the host Tigers 80-74 in the sectional, their fifth title in six years. They never relinquished their first quarter lead despite two great Warsaw comeback efforts. Warsaw’s Dean Rummel copped game scoring honors with 27 points; Mike Chambers, 20; Mike Niles, 17. Lester Davis, principal of Warsaw Freshman High, presented the championship trophy to the five Eagles’ starters. Davis is president of the IHSAA Board of Control.

Dickie Smith and his big brother say the sliding at the Evangel Hill in Winona Lake is good and why don’t we have a big crowd out there tonight. Fresh paint at Schraders and License Bureau offices have customers asking about the smell. George Myers II replied the paint was made from milk, not turpentine.
Attorney John Call is opening law offices above the Lake City Bank, which he is now refurnishing with newly purchased office furniture and equipment. Winona Lake’s W.H. Collisson Sr. received his official appointment as Justice of the Peace, taking his oath today before Circuit Court Clerk Orvel Phillips. The town has been without a J.P. for some months since Frank Gearhart resigned.
