Sue Hickman, family nutrition planner for Purdue at the Warsaw Extension Office, recently asked members of the Senior Activities Center if they would like to donate Easter baskets to a family in need. The SAC collected donated items and/or money for SAC Coordinator Kari Foster to use in purchasing items for two young children, Jessica, 9, and Zamien, 5. ‘Our seniors were very excited for the opportunity to give back and the donations poured in. What started out as Easter baskets quickly turned into two laundry baskets stuffed with everything to make these children smile Easter morning,’ said Foster. The baskets held craft items, toys, T-shirts, candy, chocolate, stuffed animals and even healthy snacks. On Good Friday, bedore the SAC Easter party, Hickman brought in April McCool, the mother of the children, to have lunch and visit. She was then presented with the baskets.
