  • Man Transported After ATV Accident
    A man was taken to the hospital after he rode an ATV?into a pond Friday night and then had to be pulled out. Police responded to the scene near 6000 Schilling Road, Mentone, around 8 p.m. When the man was pulled out of the water, he was unresponsive, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Don Wiesehan. The driver was unaware of the pond in the area and hit the water, Wiesehan said. As of the press time Friday night, the name of the driver or his status had not been released. The crash is still under investigation by the Indiana Department Of Natural Resources.
  • Wawasee Cuts Ribbon For Poultry Facility
    Wawasee High School held a ribbon-cutting for its new poultry facility. The facility houses chickens that the students will learn about and care for as they lay eggs, according to agriculture teacher Joan Harden. The facility was made possible by donations by Amish Poultry and Chore Time Block. 2 Local Veterans Honored
Two veterans – who also are very familiar faces in the community – were singled out with special awards Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, during Lakeview and Edgewood Middle Schools’ Veterans Day program. U.S. Marine and Air Force veteran David A. Morales was presented with the Meritorious Service Award by John Sadler, Sons of American Legion Squadron 49; and Navy veteran Roy C. “Rev” Blake received the Order of Kosciuszko from Ken Locke, Salvation Army Community Ministries Director and a US. Army veteran. Retired Army Sgt. 1st Jordan Mayfield helped present the plaques. Locke also was the key speaker at the program, which is featured first in this video.

Phil Marshall, a Huey medevac pilot during the Vietnam War, spoke at the Rotors Over Mentone event in Mentone, Indiana, on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, about his and others' experiences in the war. This is part 1 of 2 of his 50-minute presentation.
